Holmesglen, Victoria, Australia

Commissioned by Holmesglen Institute, Paul Morgan Architects completed the Moorabbin Campus Master Plan, which included the Health Science Precinct. The campus has been developed through a large investment by the private sector in health service delivery and health training at the Moorabbin campus of Holmesglen Institute via the leasing of part of the Moorabbin campus for the development of a 150-bed private hospital, Holmesglen Private Hospital, owned by Healthscope.

This arrangement provides considerable local and international appeal for students, attracts the best health educators to Holmesglen and aligns with the Institute’s strategic aspiration for the Moorabbin Campus as a Health Science Precinct.

Holmesglen and the private hospital operator delivered an innovative partnership with the private sector on a TAFE campus that: provides employment opportunities for local residents and students; increases health provision and support to local communities; provides pathways for students into employment; ensures that industry training needs and TAFE/ Higher education programmes are aligned and undertakes joint applied research.

The Health Science Precinct Master Plan falls within the Moorabbin Campus Master Plan completed by Paul Morgan Architects which featured several areas of investigation, including: campus way finding; program zoning; access points; building improvement and refurbishment; master plan staging and future development focusing on growth areas in course offerings, the most significant being nursing and health sciences.
